About Van Robert

WHO IS VAN ROBERT?

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The pictorial work of the Dominican artist Van Robert is part of an abstract style, one made of semi-figurative images, where dreams and legends are in agony on the canvas. It serves as a seal of a stored identity.
Evocation serves as a semi-abstractive figurative that shares symbols and metaphors in a burst of colors. Expression conveys a rhythm retained in the soul of every seer.
This artist lives with an intimacy market by a unique look and a very original pictorial form that comes from inside him. It originates from the way he deals with the issue of balance that exists in his work, between the atmosphere, the environment and the air that surrounds his creative abilities. It stems from personal references that disperse themselves inside his work. It assumes an aggressive coexistence that leads us towards and artistic uneasiness or mystery.
Van Robert’s unique style dominated by little drawings, and interesting spaces grab our attention. His talent for blending colors comes from an impressive impulsivity and spontaneity.
Bodies in his works are barely suggestive. Hidden faces appear between light and shadow. Closed settings serve as we assume or accept that dreams, illusions, and sublimation form part of their heritages, then the formal aspect, the figuration feels free.
The paintings have in their creator, an effusive server, generous, who extends, manipulates and turns on the canvas with a drive that aims to bring the dynamics and movements of his work. It is accompanied by a consciousness preoccupied with aesthetics.
In short, Van Robert´s artwork has a tradition of the beautiful, the sublime and the magical. It is sealed as an art that inspires and transcends studies and conducted teachings.
