About Lilo Perez
My name is Lilo Perez. I am a passionate artist who was born in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia. I studied fine arts at the District School of Art in Barranquilla.
My love for art started at an early age, when I would fill the walls of my childhood home with drawings. Drawings full of color, fantasies, and hopes. I’m drawn to large formats and bright, vibrant colors.
I feel that within every brush stroke, I express my spiritual connections, as well as my poetic, sensual, and out of the norm ideas.
My works of art of founded on my current emotions. Every magnificent moment in my life inspires me to create art. Within my art, my free-spirited soul can be expressed and showcased for others.
I have an interactive art style in which viewers can write their views and thoughts of the message the artwork is trying to come across. With including viewers in my artwork, I hope to draw wonders inside their minds and help them feel connected to the true meaning of my art.
This year, 2021, I will present myself with artworks by the name of “Muros”. The first muro has a message of inclusion. This is inspired by my son, Samuel, who was diagnosed with Aspergers at the young age of five. Since then, I have started my battle for inclusion and acceptance of those who are looked down on or have any type of conditions. As well as me, my son has found a passion in art. He creates artworks to express his internal emotions, as well as showcasing his view of the world, one that his innocent mind has no filter for.
The second ‘muro’ is entitled, be free. It’s inspired by the internal thoughts that we may not be able to express freely because of the prejudice and taboo views of society.
Overall, I hope to inspire many worldwide with my artwork and its true meaning.
